Shabazz Palaces, an innovative Seattle-based hip-hop collective, provides a fascinating blend of old-school and new as well as an intriguing new approach to hip-hop songwriting, delivering remarkable concept albums that are all their own. Pitchfork calls their work a "transmutation: magic" and "alternately glittering and gritty urban noir." Their sound is moody, trippy, and ever-shifting. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and your friends, and come hear the compelling, evolving, funky sound that was #1 on the Seattle Times' local Best of 2011 list.

Opening for Shabazz Palaces are Stasia Irons and Catherine Harris-White, known as THEESatisfaction. Also from Seattle, this duo manages to mix funk-psychodelic, feminista, and black jazz into a warm, unique sound while still managing to write and produce their own material.

Also joining us will be multi-media artist Daniel Givens. His art and music have him to places like France, Germany, and Spain. Daniel Givens has worked with people such as Femi Kuti, Tricky, Flying Lotus, and many more.

Make sure you join us on Fort Greene Park's Myrtle Lawn for this one-of-a-kind opportunity!
